Plakias is about 25 km away from the town and port of Rethymno (about 20 minutes by car, taxi, etc).

BY AIRPLANE
Chania & Heraklio international airports are less than 1 hour away (80 - 90 km) and they serve domestic and international flights. Regular coach servive and taxi connect Rethymno with both airports. There are regular flights from Athens to Crete (Chania & Heraklio) and the flight duration is 45 minutes. There are also many charter flights from the whole Europe to Crete directly or via Athens.

BY FERRY BOAT
There is a daily ferry boat service from Athens (Pireaus) to Rethymno, Chania & Heraklio, which lasts about 8 hours. Once you arrive in Rethymno the best way to move around is by taxi (they are relatively cheap in Crete) or by renting a car or motorbike (we can arrange that for you, if you like).
